The newest crop of mini excavators don’t look like scaled down versions of their bigger siblings and the rental market is one of the reasons why. That’s what International Rental News discovered in an article exploring the evolution of this rapidly growing equipment category.
The rental market was identified as one of three major drivers behind the rapid changes taking place in the segment. More than half of all European machines go to the rental market and the numbers are even higher in the U.S. That makes rental industry preferences a major driver for change.
International Rental News reported that other factors include global urbanisation which calls for smaller, quieter and more nimble machines and electrification driven by environmental and regulatory concerns. Both factors favour smaller, lighter designs that don’t sacrifice the productivity of prior generations.
